PRE-CONGRESS COURSE

Pre-congress course: Neuropelveology (40 places)

ABOUT THE COURSE

Comprehensive Training

Neuropelveology is an emerging field of pelvic surgery that integrates knowledge of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology and pelvic health to understand and treat complex conditions more precisely, such as chronic pelvic pain, neuralgias (pudendal and sciatic), and urinary, anorectal and sexual dysfunctions. In practice, this approach broadens clinical reasoning by considering the role of the peripheral and central nervous systems in the origin, persistence and chronicity of symptoms — particularly when inflammatory, myofascial and sensitization factors overlap.

This course offers a structured perspective applicable to the clinic and operating room, reinforcing the importance of targeted assessment, clinical-radiological correlation, differential diagnosis and mechanism-based therapeutic decision-making. By incorporating the contemporary model of pain (biological, functional and psychosocial), participants learn to recognize when intervention should be surgical, when it should be conservative and when a combined strategy is needed, focusing on safety, functional outcomes and quality of life.

Intended for gynecologists, pelvic surgeons, urologists, colorectal surgeons, pain specialists, physiatrists, physiotherapists and psychologists, the course encourages effective communication between specialties and the development of multidisciplinary, individualized treatment plans, raising the quality of women's health care.

OBJECTIVES

What you will learn

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the main neurobiological mechanisms involved in chronic pelvic pain and urinary, anorectal and sexual dysfunctions.
  • Recognize clinical patterns consistent with pelvic neuralgias (including pudendal and sciatic pain), distinguishing them from gynecological, urological, bowel and myofascial causes.
  • Structure a targeted clinical assessment, defining diagnostic hypotheses, investigation priorities and severity criteria.
  • Plan individualized interventions, selecting conservative, interventional and/or surgical strategies rationally and in stages.
  • Integrate multidisciplinary care, coordinating management and shared goals across specialties to optimize outcomes and women's well-being.
  • 2 DAYS OF IMMERSION
